Success stories - Macaw (Soft Drinks) Ltd.

Macaws (Soft Drinks) Ltd. are one of the largest suppliers of own label soft drinks in

the UK and supply to a variety of well known retailers. Their bottling plant has grown steadily and after primarily producing carbonated soft drinks and own label bottled water, they are now set to expand into still soft drinks, increasing their already thriving business.

Application Overview

The main use for the RF terminals is as part of the picking and packing system that Macaw have in place in their high bay racked warehouse. At this stage of manufacturing, all product is palletised and using the RF terminals in conjunction with the SAP warehouse management system, these pallets can be tracked throughout the warehouse from post-manufacturing put away to eventual dispatch.

The success of the initial project has led to an additional two warehouses being fitted with RF terminals and connected in to the SAP warehouse management system on a further 6 trucks. Within their fast growing business, Macaw now feel confident enough to install terminals as and when required, safe in the knowledge that they can call upon the expertise of the Barcode-IT team as new opportunities arise.

How it started

Macaw (Soft Drinks) Ltd. contacted Barcode-IT in 2000 following an invitation to one of the Barcode-IT Open Days. Macaw were looking for a radio frequency (RF) data capture solution to integrate into the SAP warehouse management system in their new warehouse. Due to Barcode IT's previous experience in integrating into SAP, Macaw placed an order for 16 truck mounted RF terminals.
