Success Stories - Singleton's Dairy
When your suppliers are large supermarket chains, it is vital that the barcoded information on outer case and product labels is both comprehensive and readable. In 2003 Singleton's Dairy were asked to produce barcodes on their outer cases to comply with demands from one such supermarket and have since revolutionised their packaging process with the aid of thermally printed barcode labels.

Since 2003 when the initial printer was installed, Singleton's Dairy have expanded their operation and currently supply around 100 tonnes of cheese per week to over 30 countries around the world. Correct packaging and barcoding has become of the upmost importance and the barcode printing solution provided by Barcode-IT has given Singleton's the flexibility and tools to meet this growing demand.
"Barcode-IT provided us with an easy to use yet powerful barcode labelling
package," This has increased the accuracy of our product marking, helping us to maintain integrity with our key customers."
Application Overview
Initially Singleton's need was to produce barcoded outer case labels for cartons of cheese being sent to suppliers. On discussing the project, Barcode-IT recommended using NiceLabel barcode label print and design software combined with a Datamax I-Class printer to print barcode labels on demand. NiceLabel software is a simple to use barcode design and print software package and allows users to design barcode labels to their desired specifications without the need for complicated prior knowledge.
As the need to produce barcoded product labels for the individual cheese products increased, Singleton's were able to use NiceLabel to design template barcode labels which could then be altered manually on printing to reflect the appropriate batch number and best before date of the product. Designing templates which can be altered by staff members means that almost anyone can print out the labels, so there is no need to rely on a single person. Singleton's have over 1000 barcode label designs for their various types of cheese, which are all stored within NiceLabel and can be brought up and altered at any time. To keep up with demand Singleton's added a Datamax H-Class printer to their operation to run with the NiceLabel software.
How It Started
Singletons Dairy initially came to Barcode-IT back in 2003 looking for an Outer Case Labelling solution. Over the last 5 years Singleton's have adopted thermal transfer printing into their packaging operation and now use Datamax printers for their outer case and product labelling.
