Wireless printing solutions
As more and more workspaces are equipped with wireless RF networks, it becomes possible to connect printers to these networks and gain the advantages in portability and flexibility that wireless networks offer. Barcode-IT can offer a variety of wireless solutions for your printing application.
Many label printers now offer wireless network solutions, either using internal cards or via an external wireless ethernet adaptor (connected to the Parallel port). However the connection is made, the freedom to locate printers according to need rather than "where the cables are", creates a printing environment that can adapt to the application and workflow. Moving printers to allow a new floor plan to be trialed or to adopt new working practices can now be as simple as finding a new power point. If power becomes an issue, then a trolley style print station can be equipped with a portable power source, allowing total freedom of movement.

QL Series Mobile Printing Technology from Zebra
The QL range of mobile printers are lightweight, easy to use, durable, and offer outstanding print quality and graphics previously found only on stationary printers. Many offer a wireless interface (WiFi or 802.11) that allows connection to enterprise RF networks and applications from anywhere in the facility, indoors or out and units may have integrated credit card or smart card readers for payment processing. Mobile printers can be used to produce high-quality labels, receipts, coupons and tickets using a variety of media and are typically used in conjunction with handheld or wearable computers. The printer receives its commands from the portable computer through either a cabled or wireless connection.
Transaction information and print jobs may be generated within the mobile equipment or be received from a wireless network and because mobile applications require user comfort and convenience, wireless connectivity is highly desirable. Mobile printers may use two forms of wireless connectivity; short-range Bluetooth or infrared connectivity can be used instead of a cable to communicate between the printer and mobile computer. Printers may also have a direct connection to enterprise wireless networks. The wireless interfaces perform separate functions and can be used simultaneously. For more information click [here].
RW420 from Zebra Technologies

The RW420 is the most recent addition to the Zebra range of mobile printers. Designed as an aid to those on the move, like delivery drivers, the RW420 can be used for PoS delivery receipt printing, invoice printing and a variety of other printing applications that are required when on the move. The RW420 is extremely versatile and can be mounted in a vehicle or carried by the user. Like the QL range, the RW420 can be supplied with an integrated magnetic stripe reader for taking payments by credit card, etc. The RW420 differs from the QL range in it's durability and can survive drops and outdoor conditions making it the wireless printer to use on the road and with a variety of connectivity choices data can be relayed back to the main system effortlessly. The ZebraNet Wireless Card Socket is the industry's first internal wireless option for tabletop bar code printers. Available on Zebra's XiII, XiIII Series, XiIIIPlus, 105SL printers, click [here] for more information. All other Zebra printers can be connected using the IC155-WLAN Pocket (see below). Using the Zebra Net wireless card offers you:
- Internal integration, eliminating the need for a bulky wireless bridge and external power supply.
- Simple configuration and ease of use on 802.11b or Symbol® Spectrum24TM wireless Ethernet networks.
- Initial compatibility with six PCMCIA format card-based radios from major manufacturers like Lucent Technologies, Symbol Technologies, and Cisco Systems.
- Flexibility to change wireless network cards as company networks evolve. Provides 64 to 128 bit HEX WEP support for security.
ZebraNet Xi Series using standard, wireless LAN PCMCIA format cards means end users no longer have to deal with the hassles of re-configuring and re-cabling their network printers when moving a production line. The Zebra wireless networking option enables customers to move their tabletop barcode printers to virtually any location in the facility, without downtime.

All of the industrial printers in the I and W Class ranges of printers from Datamax, support DMX-RFnet. DMX-RFnet is a fully integrated internal RF (802.11b) ethernet interface and connects to a wireless network so that the printer has its own IP address and appears on the network as a standard ethernet device. Any software application that can print to an ethernet printer can now print labels on these wireless printers. Datamax A-Class, print and apply engines fully support DMX-RFnet. The M-Class printers, which are designed to work in light industrial, healthcare or retail applications, can be easily connected to a wireless network using the IC155-WLAN Pocket (see below).
