Sage MMS

MMS Warehouse from Barcode-IT is a real-time, barcode driven, Inventory Management Solution for users of Sage MMS Software. There are two levels of system available: "MMS Warehouse" which is a direct solution into the Sage MMS Stock Management System (Commercials) and "Barcode-IT WMS", which is a separate Warehouse Management System with additional functionality to cater for more complex operations.

Based on wireless technology and barcode identification of products, this fully integrated solution is aimed at companies in both the manufacturing and distribution sectors who have a requirement to manage inventory and warehouse operations more efficiently.

The wireless warehouse system has a real-time interface with Sage MMS. This means that all the transactions are validated on-line and stock records are updated live, as transactions are done in the warehouse. This eliminates errors at the point of scan, e.g. receiving PO’s, locating product, picking SO’s and shipping. The system is completely seamless with no need to upload/download information to and from the scanning terminals.

Wireless technology for real time inventory on-line transaction processing using radio frequency barcode scanning terminals and a wireless network is becoming the standard for today's warehouse and shop floor procedures. The wireless data capture terminals can be mounted on forklift trucks for pallet movement with portable handheld units for on-foot transactions such as goods receiving, stocktaking, etc. The wireless terminals are used in the warehouse by the operatives to automate the inventory transactions and procedures.

The system can also incorporate barcode label printers to identify products throughout the operation. Mobile wireless printers, which are connected to the system over the wireless network, can be incorporated to cater for on the move applications like goods receiving labels, picking tickets, shipping labels etc. Despatch documentation and delivery notes can be automatically be produced and printed based on scanned product against orders and shipments.

Goods Receiving
MMS Warehouse provides for the receipt of products into the warehouse using RF terminals. The receiving process automates and validates the receipts of goods against a purchase order. Goods receiving is real-time ensuring that product is accounted for as soon as it has been booked-in.

Product barcode labels can be produced at goods receiving for items, cartons or pallets. These can then be used to scan subsequent transactions in the warehouse.

Order Picking
The Picking function validates picking of items against a sales/pick order. As items are picked they are verified as to quantity, location, and the validity of item number making picking errors a thing of the past.

The order pickers using the RF terminals are guided through the picking process by location and are provided with instructions on the terminal as to the item and quantity to be picked. Validation is the key to minimising picking errors and accurate inventory. Each step of the pick is validated by scanning a barcode for location and item.

Putaway

Putaway is the action of putting product away into stock locations, e.g. racking, slots, bins, floor areas, etc. The putaway function in Dexterity WMS is configurable and generally rules-driven. For example:

• Open Putaway allows the user to put any SKU in any location.
• Prime Locations direct the user to specific locations defined by SKU.
• Zoning directs the user to locate SKU in a specific zone

Wireless Putaway

Using wireless scanning terminals means that all putaway activity is recorded in real-time and verified, as the operator will scan the location barcode on the rack or bin etc.

Location Management

Location Management is a strong feature of MMS Warehouse. Locations can be in racking, bins, receiving, dispatch or marshalling bays in the warehouse. Locations are given a reference which is used to track and manage the location of inventory items. All locations are typically barcoded to allow simple scanning using the RF terminal.

Stocktaking

MMS Warehouse makes stocktaking easy. The RF terminals are used to scan the locations and items to allow on-line real time stock checks. Accurate inventory records means that many companies can move away from traditional monthly stocktaking and introduce perpetual inventory checks through cycle counting. This vastly reduces stocktaking time with massive savings in time, labour and unaccounted for stock.

Stock Movements

Stock movements within the warehouse are completely automated using MMS warehouse. Simply scan the product out of its existing location into its new location using the RF terminals. Stock is immediately reported in its new location in Sage MMS.

Shipping and despatch

After the orders have been picked they are ready for shipping. From the dispatch bay the picked order can be confirmed as shipped using the RF terminals. Both MMS Warehouse and Barcode-IT WMS can automate the printing of barcode labels, shipping and pallet labels and advise/dispatch notes and manifests.
