WMS Wave Management

A key feature of the Dexterity WMS Picking process is the capability to prioritise picking orders and the ability to effectively group these orders for shipment (Wave Picking). This is accomplished through the grouping selection criteria such as dates, customer, and carrier that link orders into distinct groups. Once created these batches or waves can be assigned to a specific picker.
Typically batches are used to group orders for single order picks. In contrast, waves are used to do a pre-ship move to despatch followed by a ship confirm process.
Example Wave Management Setup:
The manage wave function allows the warehouse manager and supervisors to manage large groups of picking orders in an efficient manner. Waves can be created to focus on selected criteria depending on how the warehouse operation works:
• Creating Waves
• Selecting Picking Orders
• Grouping Pick Orders by
• Order date(s) or range
• Carrier
• Customer
• Assigning Pickers to Waves
When waves are assigned to pickers, the WiFi terminal will display only those assigned to each picker on their terminal. This allows the manager to assign particular tasks to pickers to make best use of personnel.
