WMS Wireless Warehouse
The Wireless Warehouse means that users of RF wireless terminals maintain a wireless network connection to the management system throughout the warehouse and other industrial environments, without the limitations of wires or cables. This means that the system is “live”, every entry and barcode scanned is checked on-line to ensure immediate and error free information.
The Wireless Warehouse incorporates paperless goods receiving, putaway, stocktaking, order picking and despatch. On-line transaction processing using radio frequency barcode scanning terminals and a wireless network is becoming the standard for today's warehouse and shop floor procedures. The wireless data capture terminals can be mounted on forklift trucks for pallet movement with handheld units for on-foot transactions e.g. inventory, picking and cycle counting etc.

Wireless Network Infrastructure
Cisco provide a family of wireless LAN products that combine the mobility and flexibility users want from a wireless LAN product with the throughput and security needed from a business LAN. Cisco 1200 Access Points are network devices which connect the network of RF terminals to the physical computer network. It provides flexibility, high performance and a radio independent architecture. It is an industrial and rugged device with a sealed enclosure against ingress of dirt and water and features an integrated power supply.
The Access Point connects to the network using a standard RJ45 which caters for the Ethernet network configuration. The Cisco product line is a high performance wireless LAN system that operates at a high data rate. The coverage area of a single cell can reach up to 100 metres in production and warehouse situations. Fast and seamless roaming between adjacent cells extends the coverage area to whole buildings or sites. The Cisco product line is designed to meets standards and regulations for license-free installation. Multiple Access Points in the same coverage area increase effective throughput beyond wired LAN speed.
The Cisco 1200 Access Point is a compact unit that can be easily installed on shelf, ceiling or wall. The wide coverage area (cell) handles heavy network traffic. Several radio cells can be overlapped to obtain full coverage of complex floor layouts, penetration of obstacles and high-speed roaming. 802.11b Spread Spectrum Direct Sequence Radio provides robust and reliable wireless communications with interference avoidance, as well as the ability to coexist with other wireless networks. The Access Points can also be powered over the Ethernet cable. This option delivers power over standard CAT5 cabling with no degradation in performance up to a maximum Ethernet cable distance of 90 metres.
