Datamax-O'Neil has acquired Extech Instruments' Data Systems Division, one of the world's leading developers of portable printers for enterprise-wide applications. Datalogic Mobile release MCL Client for the R-7 terminal
Datalogic Mobile have announced that an MCL Client is now available for use on the R-7 mobile terminal, a part of the R-Series.
MCL development tools are used to develop complex data capture applications with greater speed and accuracy, when simple terminal emulation is not an option.
MCL is used to design the front end transaction screens for wireless RF terminals and uses a standard ODBC/SQL connection to the host system database using shared tables to provide a real time system for warehouse and shop floor users. Supreme Imports upgrade to Dexterity for Sage 200
Long standing customer of Barcode-IT, Supreme Imports have brought forward the upgrade of their system from Sage Line 100 to Sage 200 in order to support growing order numbers in 2010. As a result of this, Supreme are also upgrading their Dexterity solution to the latest Sage 200 compatible version. The upgrade will take place over the next few months and give Supreme the latest features and benefits to grow their business during 2010. Supreme Imports are a world leader in the distribution of branded batteries and supply 20% of the UK market. The implementation of Dexterity WMS improved the pick accuracy of their system to 99.9%! Dexterity certified for VMware
Dexterity WMS is now fully tested and certified to operate in a Virtual Machine environment (VM). Many companies are making plans to migrate to VM using either VMware or Microsoft VM solutions. Dexterity WMS and Dexterity for Sage 200, are both now available for use in VM with customers now having build Dexterity from scratch in a VM or having cloned an existing Dexterity server into VM. VMware seems to be the product of choice at the moment and customers report few if any issues with the migration to VM. End of an era at Printronix
Robert A Kleist, Bob to his friends and customers, has stepped down as the CEO of Printronix after starting the company 35 years ago. Bob and some friends invented the Line Matrix technology on which Printronix was founded in a garage in California in 1974 and grew the company to over $200M at its peak in the mid 80's. These days Printronix has diversified into a multi-technology printer vendor, with sales of Line printers still forming a major part of the business. Bob will now take up a role as Chairman of Printronix inc. and we wish him well.

Datamax-O'Neil announce discontinuation of W-Class printer
Datamax-O'Neil has announced the discontinuation of their W-Class range of thermal printers effective as of the 30th June 2009. The W-Class range has been replaced by the H-Class range, which offers complete comparability with existing Datamax W-Class populations but are higher performance printers. Parts will be available for the W-Class printers until 2011, so existing populations will still be supported and maintainable. For more information on the new H-Class printer range, click [here].
