SAP Warehouse Management (WM)

 SAP Warehouse Management (WM) is a powerful and sophisticated module aimed at companies with complex, high-volume distribution networks who need to manage inventory and maximise the efficiency of the supply chain. This is achieved by automating key stock control processes, from goods receiving through to inventory location and storage, to fulfilling picking and shipping orders for customers.
SAP WM functionality supports the most complex operations with cross-docking, batch picking and interleaving, but many of these processes are ideally done at the point of use, using WiFi connected mobile terminals.
 The mobile terminals are connected in "real-time" to SAP and allow the operator to complete the transaction directly into SAP without leaving his location in the warehouse. Mobile terminals are fitted with powerful barcode scanners to allow data to be effortlessly and 100% accurately input into SAP by scanning product, pallet and location barcodes. There is no middleware (translation software) required as the terminal uses an SAP supplied mobile screen utility (SAP Console or ITS) to guide the operator through a series of menu driven transactions at all times providing information from SAP itself and returning operator inputs directly back into SAP.

The Config Team is a specialised SAP logistics execution company and they have extensive implementation experience in SAP, SAP WiFi skills, Handling Unit Management (HUM), SAP Batch Management, Storage Unit Management, Transportation Management and significant experience of building and controlling interfaces to 3rd party WMS and transportation systems.

Barcode-IT have developed a close relationship with The Config Team over the past 8 years, working together on several SAP projects. These include Halewood International, MAN Diesel, Scott Tyco and Presspart. The two companies work closely together on these projects enabling SAP on mobile terminals and computers:
- Barcode-IT provide the required hardware such as WiFi terminals and computers, the WiFi networks and fixed and portable label printers.
- Barcode-IT provided the knowledge and expertises, to install and configure the WiFi network and mobile devices to get the best performance, based on speed of operation and network coverage.
- The Config Team provided SAP Logistics consultancy to the customer SAP RF Console set up and consultancy and configuration in SAP LES
Logistics Execution System in SAP
The Logistics Execution System (LES), is a major component of the supply chain management (SCM) application from SAP and allows a company to manage the information and processes involved in all stages of the supply chain, from procuring raw materials to distributing finished products. LES connects SCM processes involved in procurement, order processing, production, storage, inventory management, shipping, and sales.
SAP's LES is an integral component of the company's mySAP SCM offerings and has two linked applications: a warehouse management system (SAP WM and SAP EWM) and a transportation management system.
SAP Logistics Execution on Mobile Computers
The use of mobile terminals and truck mounted computers, linked directly with SAP can bring significant benefits to throughput, accuracy and efficiency. The devices can be used within core  warehouse processes and other SAP Modules such as production planning, quality management, plant maintenance and in SAP IM with engineering spares.
SAP Standard Transactions
SAP provides a range of SAP Standard transactions, however The Config Team have an additional library of over 40 other RF transactions that provide additional functionality and native support for common gaps in the standard SAP functionality.
SAP on a mobile device allows the operator to access real time data from SAP. It is a fully integrated approach accessing the actual SAP database and is NOT a 3rd party system.
There are three main ways of linking SAP to mobile devices:
- SAPConsole - for
text based screens
- WebSAPConsole - for graphical, touch screen and voice devices
- ITS Mobile - the replacement for SAPConsole and WebSAPConsole in later releases of SAP Enterprise Core Component (ECC)
The Config Team also differ from many SAP implementation companies in offering full or part time resource to customers implementing SAP Logistics Execution or WM. This means that customers do not need to commit to a large number of consulting days to get the best team in place to work on their SAP implementation.
